Secutec protects Eurovision 2026 against cyber threats
After ensuring the protection of the Milan Winter Olympic Games, Secutec was once again on the front line to secure the 2026 edition of Eurovision, which took place from May 12 to 16 in Vienna, Austria. This large-scale event, for which 90,000 tickets have been sold, brings together 35 countries, 800 volunteers, and attracted 166 million viewers in 2025.
In a tense geopolitical context, marked by the withdrawal of several countries and an open letter signed by more than 1,100 artists calling for a boycott, Eurovision 2026 has become a prime target for cyber threats. A successful attack would not only compromise the event itself, but also the credibility and stability of the European Union, as Eurovision symbolizes far more than just a show.
To secure Eurovision 2026, Secutec deployed its expertise across the entire ecosystem (participants, organizers, partners, media, and spectators) through:
- Continuous monitoring of darknet forums, chats, Telegram channels, data leaks, and compromised credentials linked to the event.
- Identification of concrete indicators (attack planning, phishing campaigns, fraudulent websites, etc.) in order to alert the responsible teams and enable an appropriate response.
Examples of typical threats for an event of this scale include:
- Phishing campaigns targeting organizers or spectators.
- DDoS attacks against official websites or critical infrastructures.
- Attempts at disinformation or account hijacking.
- Suspicious activities on ticketing platforms or social media.
The value of continuous monitoring lies in the early identification of these indicators, their assessment, and their transmission to the responsible teams.
