Secutec brings European cybersecurity expertise to the South African market

Secutec is taking another step in its international growth strategy with the appointment of Ferdi van Niekerk as Country Lead South Africa. With more than a decade of experience across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, managed services and technology distribution, Ferdi will help establish and grow Secutec’s presence in the South African market.

A key cybersecurity hub

South Africa represents a natural next step in Secutec’s international expansion. As one of Africa’s most developed technology markets, the country has established itself as an important hub for digital innovation, cloud services and cybersecurity.

The country combines a sophisticated financial sector with a strong telecommunications industry, a growing cloud and data centre ecosystem, and an established community of technology companies, service providers and cybersecurity specialists. This mature technology landscape, combined with a high level of digitalization across businesses and public organizations, creates a strong and growing demand for advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

At the same time, digital transformation, cloud adoption and AI are rapidly changing the cybersecurity landscape. Organizations are becoming increasingly dependent on digital infrastructure, while their attack surfaces continue to expand. This creates a growing need for cybersecurity strategies that combine prevention, visibility, detection and response rather than relying on individual security technologies.

For Secutec, South Africa therefore represents an important new market. By establishing a local presence, Secutec aims to build long-term relationships with customers and partners and bring its European cybersecurity expertise, technology and services closer to South African organizations.

“South Africa has developed into one of Africa’s key technology and cybersecurity hubs. It combines a mature technology ecosystem with sophisticated organizations and a strong awareness of the importance of cyber resilience. We see a clear opportunity to bring our cybersecurity expertise and the SecureSIGHT platform to the South African market, while building strong, long-term relationships with local customers and partners.” says Geert Baudewijns, CEO & Founder at Secutec.

“South Africa is one of Africa’s key technology and cybersecurity hubs. We see a clear opportunity to bring our cybersecurity expertise and the SecureSIGHT platform to this dynamic market.”

Ferdi van Niekerk

Local expertise, global cybersecurity

Ferdi van Niekerk brings more than ten years of experience across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, managed services, technical operations and technology distribution.

Throughout his career, he has worked with SMEs, enterprises and government organizations, covering service delivery, solution design, technical enablement and customer engagement. His experience in technology distribution has also given him the opportunity to work across the complete ecosystem of vendors, partners, resellers, service providers and end customers.

This combination of technical expertise, business understanding and knowledge of the local technology ecosystem makes him well positioned to develop Secutec’s footprint in South Africa.

As Country Lead South Africa, Ferdi will focus on developing the market, establishing relationships with customers and partners, and introducing SecureSIGHT, Secutec’s Threat Exposure Management Platform, to South African organizations. SecureSIGHT brings different cybersecurity capabilities together in one centralized platform, helping organizations gain greater visibility into their security posture and manage cyber risk more effectively.

From fragmented security to centralized insight

Ferdi’s approach to cybersecurity closely aligns with the philosophy behind SecureSIGHT. As AI, cloud services and digital transformation reshape organizations, he believes that security strategies need to evolve with them.

Traditional security controls remain essential, but relying on individual technologies or a single security layer is no longer sufficient. SecureSIGHT addresses this challenge by bringing multiple cybersecurity capabilities together in one centralized platform, providing organizations with a clearer and more comprehensive view of their exposure. At the same time, this approach helps avoid the unnecessary complexity that can come from managing security through a fragmented collection of individual tools and technologies.

Instead, organizations need a layered approach in which different capabilities complement each other across prevention, detection and response. The starting point should always be the organization’s actual risks, business requirements and desired outcomes. SecureSIGHT supports this approach by bringing security insights and capabilities together, helping organizations identify risks, improve visibility and take more informed action.

According to van Niekerk “Cybersecurity today is not about finding one product that solves everything. Organizations often have many security technologies in place, but still lack a clear view of their overall exposure. That is where I see real value in SecureSIGHT: bringing different capabilities and insights together to provide greater visibility, without adding unnecessary complexity. I look forward to introducing that approach to organizations and partners across South Africa."
