Building on a solid foundation: why Petersime chooses Secutec SecureDNS
For several years, Petersime has used SecureDNS to provide basic security for the company. It also relies on Secutec to perform security audits.
"I often notice that the automatically generated reports are the first lead for my colleague."
Petersime is a manufacturing company based in Zulte, Belgium that specializes in the development, production and supply of solutions for incubators and hatchers. In addition to its main site, the company has four international hubs. The machines Petersime produces are used all over the world and are state-of-the-art. In recent years, Petersime has also developed software to connect the machines to the cloud.
Why Petersime continues to work with Secutec:
- Reliable security
- Experienced security engineers with strong service and guidance
- Well consulting, not commercial overwhelm
- Clear audit as basis for collaboration with other partners
Global solution
"I myself come from the healthcare sector, which is a very security-sensitive world," begins Ewoud Harnie. He is ICT Manager at Petersime and is in charge of the company's cybersecurity, among other things. "There, DNS security is very common. At Petersime, that element was missing, so I started looking at ways to integrate that in a budget-friendly way."
From a request for advice, Ewoud came to Secutec and the SecureDNS solution. "We were one of the first to start working with it, I believe," he recalls. "Nevertheless, the integration went very smoothly. Within two days everything was up and running - only in the hub in Malaysia did things go a little more slowly because we were still building the infrastructure there. There Secutec intervened very helpfully and this was quickly resolved."
"Since we work in times of global instability, we need to be as prepared as possible."
Always safe, even remotely
The ability to improve the company's security quickly and globally was a key element for Ewoud. "Since we work in times of global instability, we need to be as prepared as possible," he says. "As an international company, we see two types of attacks that want to hit us: the first is a ransomware attack that focuses on obtaining ransoms, but the second type targets the innovative technology we are developing. To prevent theft of our data, we had to take our security to the next level."
In addition, Petersime has several employees who work remotely. To best protect them from cyber attacks, the company uses the SecureDNS Agent. "We wanted to be part of the pilot project around this new version of the Agent because we were very satisfied with the SecureDNS solution and we saw the Agent as an important extension to protect our remote employees.
Building evidence for compliancy
SecureDNS is part of the daily information sources of the Security Expert at Petersime. "I often notice that the automatically generated reports are the first lead for my colleague," Ewoud says. "When he wants to investigate something, he starts there. If we notice suspicious spikes elsewhere that need to be checked, we usually see that reflected in the Secutec Portal. From there, we get more information about where to start looking. If there is an occurrence that we happened not to notice ourselves, we get an alert from SecureDNS - also always helpful."
The information from the reports is also maintained from a forensic point of view. Ewoud: " In case of a cyber incident, it would be important to be able to track where an attack came from and how long it had been on our network. It is a form of evidence building that also benefits our compliance requirements. Occasionally the reports are also shared with management to pinpoint certain trends."
